Garlic is a very potent plant of which the bulb is used for cooking, medicinal properties such as warding off the flu that's going around the office or lowering your high blood pressure.
I started looking into herbs and ancient healing techniques 10 years ago when I was told I had high blood lipids and high cholesterol. The doctor handed me pills and I take them but I also wanted to look into natural remedies and found quite a lot about the medicinal uses of garlic cloves .
I read that garlic cloves can ward off the flu. So I tried it. Garlic is it's most potent when it is eaten raw. And boy is that nasty! But there are ways to get around it. I took a large good looking bulb and peeled it then minced it. There was no way I could eat it like that so I mixed it in yogurt and with the help of a glass of orange juice swallowed it easily.
Every one in my office was getting sick with the flu but I had read that some people in Paris had avoided the Plague by eating garlic. Could this be true? I decided to try it out on the crummy flu that was going around. All winter long I ate my garlic before going to work. I never got the flu. I'm not sure if it was because of the garlic or maybe no one came near me because of the smell but hey, I didn't get the flu!
The medicinal uses for garlic don't stop there. Garlic also helps get rid of worms, high blood pressure, bladder problems, coughs, sore throat, skin sores and colds.
